When I married my ex husband he was newly divorced. In his divorce his ex-wife put in there that her son was not allowed to call anyone mom besides her. I thought this was completely atrocious. Why kind of Psychopath was he married to? Who in their right mind would EVER force a child to call them mom......
Moving forward 8 years & 2 weeks. I now understand the need/want for this in divorces. My children came home this past weekend & informed me that their future (yes, he's already engaged again) step mom was telling them that they had to call her mom or ma. Uhm..huh? I said how did this come about? Well apparently Tammie doesn't like the term 'step mom' so she prefers to be called mom or ma. Plus her grandson that she has custody of is calling her Tammie b/c my kids do. Totally sounds like a personal problem that she's trying to make my kids' problem.
I told my kids that they are to call her Tammie and if she has any problems she can feel free to contact me. I did call x'h and told him what was said. He denied it all & more or less called the kids liars.
Ladies dont ever force kids to call you mom. Guys don't force the women in your lives on your kids. Vice Versa for the ladies w/ new guys. I would never ever have my kids call my honey dad at all ever! It's disrespectful to their bio dad..even if he is a POS!
